10 Hacks To Make Your Move An Easier Experience

You may have a lot of work ahead of you when moving, but it does not have to be a dreadful experience. There are many hacks to get you through the moving process without tearing your hair out. All you have to do is find the hacks that work for you. Here are 10 hacks to make your move an easier experience.

Purge Your Belongings: You can make packing and unpacking an easier task by purging your belongings. Donate or sell the items you never wear or use, and discard the items that are expired or damaged.

Create A Schedule: There are several tasks that need to be done before a certain day, from changing your address to preparing your refrigerator. You can stay on top of these tasks by creating a schedule.

Gather Your Boxes: You can obtain boxes even if you are on a tight budget. Simply ask retailers if you can have their gently used boxes. If you are worried about worn out boxes, you can add a layer of protection by securing the bottom of each one with packaging tape.

Packing Supplies Basket: It is always frustrating to misplace your supplies when it is time to pack. You do not want to spend time looking for your scissors, tape or labels. Use a box or bin to store and carry your packing supplies. You can even invest in a craft tote with compartments to keep your supplies organized.

Pack Your Immediate Essentials: Pack a box of the items you need on the first night and following morning in your new home. This makes it easier to relax after a long day of moving. The contents may include bedding, clothing, toiletries, medications and towels.

Pack Disposable Dinnerware: You are going to be too tired to dig out your dishes right away, so pack disposable plates, cups and utensils for quick meals. Using disposable dinnerware beats doing the dishes after hours of loading and unloading boxes.

Pick Up Easy Meals: You may order a pizza on moving day, but you still need snacks and meals for that night and the following day. Once you arrive to your new home, head to the grocery store for items such as bread, peanut butter, cereal, granola bars and milk.

Plastic Wrap Your Containers: Plastic wrap containers such as utensil trays and dresser drawers to keep them shut during the move. You can even keep the items inside the drawers to make packing and unpacking a breeze. All you have to do is place them in their designated rooms and unwrap them.

Cut Handles In Boxes: Use a box cutter to cut triangle-shaped holes near the top of each side of your boxes. You are going to use the holes as handles for easier lifting and carrying. One idea is to cut the holes in a U-shape to fold in when carrying or close during transportation.

Use A Rubber Band On Your Door: Imagine accidentally locking yourself out when loading and unloading your boxes into your vehicle. This is bound to happen when you are constantly going in and out of the house. Place a rubber band on one doorknob and stretch it around to the other doorknob. This technique keeps your door from shutting and locking as you are loading and unloading your boxes.
